UEM Group Showcases AFM Expertise at Infraassets
World Congress

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 February – Engineering-based conglomerate, UEM Group Berhad will showcase its expertise in Asset & Facility Management (AFM) services at the 1st World Congress and Exhibition on Infrastructure Asset Management (INFRAASSETS 2011) held today till February 24 at the Putra World Trade Centre.


UEM Group’s AFM operating companies participating at the event are Faber Group Berhad, Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd, Opus Group Berhad and Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Berhad (Propel).


In addition to an exhibition booth, UEM Group will also be fielding two of its own prominent speakers at the global forum – Ashok Shah from Faber Group Berhad who will be presenting a paper titled “Lifecycle Management of Healthcare Assets” and Chin Chi Haw from Opus Group Berhad will share a topic on “Performance Based Lifecycle Management of Highway Assets”.


At the event, UEM Group will feature its asset and management service offerings -- a complete life cycle approach from conceptualisation, planning and design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance, optimisation, rehabilitation and upgrading, right up to the last stages of disposal and renewal of assets. In each of these stages, the service is performed with an underlying objective of achieving growth and sustainability.


AFM, which is one of four UEM Group’s core businesses with the other being Expressways, Engineering & Construction and Township & Property Development, is a platform for UEM Group to provide end-to-end offerings of products and services.


In delivering the service, UEM Group’s AFM operating companies are equipped with advanced technology and systems, and are supported with skilled and experienced personnel allowing clients from Malaysia, India, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Canada to achieve optimisation of resources.


INFRAASSETS 2011, being held for the first time, is jointly hosted by the Institute for Infrastructure Asset Management, United States, the PWM Group Malaysia, and the Institute of Asset Management, United Kingdom.


Endorsed and supported by key Government agencies including the Prime Minister’s Department, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Ministry of Works and Ministry of Transport, the event is scheduled to be opened by YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Honorary President of Perdana Leadership Foundation who is also the former Prime Minister of Malaysia.


The three-day event will address global industry issues, trends and directions that cover infrastructure sectors such as transportation, water and environment, energy and power, buildings and complexes as well as ICT and telecommunications.
